Brisbane’s Best Korean Fried Chicken – 2023

If you’re craving some seriously good Korean Fried Chicken (think finger-lickin’, tender, juicy chicken), then I have an excellent recommendation for you! Head to KCS, a pop-up takeaway of the amazing Kimchi Cheese Smile restaurant fame. Kimchi Cheese Smile was the first contemporary Korean Brisbane restaurant in Brisbane. However, like most restauranteurs affected by the recent pandemic, owners Sara Jeon and Jamie Yang had to start thinking of ideas to keep their business afloat. Thankfully (for them and us fried chicken lovers), they quickly created a great work-a-round, “KCS”, a takeaway serving up the very best Korean Fried Chicken along with some pretty tasty (and healthy) side dishes as well.
The Takeaway Menu
Boneless Fried Chicken
KCS currently offers a choice of 3 delicious of tender boneless fried chicken:
• Korean Sweet Chilli – $17.50
• Secret Soy – $17.50
• Plain – $16.90
My fav – The Korean Sweet Chilli is drenched in a moreish sauce (slightly spicy but not hot), but still remains crisp (how do they do that???)
*All chicken is chemical and hormone free
KCS Chicken Sandwich
Love love the chicken sandwich! Crispy fried chicken served on a fresh brioche bun with chilli mayo and cucumber pickle – such amazing value at only $10.50!
Sides
Having tried all of the sides now let me just say – they are all fantastic! You even get a complimentary kimchi with every fried chicken order! You may want to order more though – it’s house-made and super yummy!
Beer Battered Chips
These are one of the crunchiest takeaway chips Ive had – They come with chipotle salt seasoning and you can add extra sauces – Chilli mayo, Aioli, BBQ or tomato. (or you can dip them in your thick shake – seriously good!)
KCS Green Salad
So healthy! A huge bowl of baby gem lettuce, apple, celery and pumpkin seeds. There’s also a choice to add some crispy chicken.
Creamy Mash Potato
Dutch cream potato – YUM!!! The creamiest mash ever!
Steamed Rice
Mixed grain rice (black rice, quinoa, glutinous rice)
Dessert
Doughnut with cinnamon sugar
Thick Shakes
• Real Chocolate – a beautiful blend of cacao barry Ghana chocolate
• Vanilla Bean – Vanilla bean ice cream
• Misugaru – roasted Korean multi grain powder (barley, brown rice, soybean, corn, buck wheat) – you have to try!!!
• Coffee – Robert Timms coffee, Lotus biscoff
